Social/Zakat ServicesAssalaamoAlaikum and Welcome to ICM’s Social Services/Zakat Committee. Our goal is to assist those in need in the spirit of kindness, compassion, love, and respect.
The Social Services/Zakat Committee is a one-stop community service office providing assistance with Zakat and related financial help, counseling services for a wide range of spiritual or psychological issues, and transitional housing.
We work to help needy families and individuals facing the hardships of unemployment, compounding bills and/or homelessness through the principles of zakat distribution; as well as helping our clients to access existing state and local resources.
The SS Committee also runs and operates a women’s shelter known as Bait An-Nisaa. BAN is a transitional house for women and their minor children in need of safe haven due to poverty related homelessness, marital discord, or domestic abuse. At BAN the women in residence receive counseling to help them cope with emotional and psychological stress, as well as training in areas of job readiness, child care and parenting.
Applying for assistance can often be a difficult and uncomfortable experience, but rest assured that we will strive to do our utmost to make the application and interview process as quick, pleasant and minimally invasive as possible to get our clients back on the road to financial and emotional recovery.
